Since 2015 — India’s Longest-Running Creative Writing Mentorship
This Started as an Attic. It’s Still an Attic at Heart.
A small, personal writing room that Anita Nair built to do one thing well — help writers find their voice. Ten years and 140+ writers later, that hasn’t changed.
The Story So Far
In 2015, Anita Nair started a creative writing mentorship in Bangalore with a simple idea: writers get better by writing, being read closely, and being told the truth about their work. What began as one small season a year has grown — first into a full mentorship program in partnership with HarperCollins India, and now into two ways to learn: In Person, for writers who want Anita’s direct, personal guidance, and At Your Pace, for writers who want to start on their own terms. Along the way, Anita’s Attic has also partnered with Penguin Random House India, bringing publishing professionals and real-world industry access directly into the program.
Find the Voice
“Every writer has a voice already — most just haven’t found it yet. That’s the whole premise of Anita’s Attic: not teaching you to write like someone else, but helping you write like you, on purpose, with craft behind it.”

Your Mentor
You’re not learning from a course. You’re learning from someone who’s actually done the thing you’re trying to do. Anita Nair is the bestselling author of nine novels, a UNHCR High Profile Supporter, and the recipient of the Central Sahitya Akademi Award — and for over a decade, she’s mentored the next generation of Indian writers, personally.
Two ways to learn directly from Anita Nair — same mentor, same craft, different pace.
