Poetry

“To see beyond the obvious, to chase a wisp of smoke.
Is poetry a form that can be taught?

No, but poetry is a form that ought to be more than the use of aesthetics or rhyme and rhythm. To know a metaphor which is the soul of poetry and to construct a poem without excess is the secret of crafting. When it comes to poetry writing, it is craft that makes a poem vibrant and alive !

Writing Poetry at Anita’s Attic

The first, and we would say, the most fundamental step in enhancing your poetry skills is to read more and more of poets that you love, and delve deep into their poetic wordscapes. Technique is equally important, as it is nothing short of art to find the perfect phrases or words that resonates with the ideas you want to convey that form the piece. Get to know long & short narratives, rhyme schemes, experiment with word choices and different meters – it’s a whole world of poetry out there, waiting to be discovered.
